Following its Flickerfest and Heart of Gold selections, South Australian short AMOK continues its acclaimed festival run as a finalist at the Fraser Short Film Festival.
Adelaide, South Australia —
South Australian short film AMOK has been named a finalist at the Fraser Short Film Festival, continuing its standout festival season following its premiere at Flickerfest and official selection at Heart of Gold.
The recognition marks another milestone for AMOK — a sharp, genre-blending nine-minute Rom-Thrill-Com praised for its wit, emotional authenticity, and bold visual style.
Written and directed by Kahli Gaskin, and produced by E. Bennett Walsh (Mortal Kombat, Kill Bill, The Kite Runner) and Isabelle Scott (Unsolved Cases), AMOK follows a couple whose anniversary dinner unravels into an offbeat and eerie misadventure that tests the boundaries of love, trust, and sheer absurdity.
“We’re absolutely thrilled for AMOK to be recognised as a finalist at Fraser,” says Producer Isabelle Scott. “It’s a festival that celebrates creative risk-taking and distinct storytelling — exactly what this film set out to do. Seeing a South Australian project resonate with audiences around the country has been incredibly exciting.”
Shot entirely in South Australia with an all-local cast and crew, the film stars Brittany Gallasch, Alexander Lloyd, and Kori Hayes, with cinematography by Jules Wurm, and editing by Andrew Shanks.
For Writer-Director Kahli Gaskin, the finalist recognition is deeply rewarding.
“AMOK was born from the chaos of human relationships — the moments that are equal parts terrifying and funny,” she says. “To have that blend of emotion and absurdity celebrated by the Fraser jury means the world to us.”
As AMOK continues its national festival journey, the Sunup Workshop team is already developing its debut feature film, with details to be announced later this year.
From its Adelaide roots to screens nationwide, AMOK continues to showcase the creativity, courage, and cinematic voice of South Australian filmmaking.
