Not necessarily! If you’ve got a story seed or concept, we’ll help you develop it. And if you’re starting completely fresh, we’ll brainstorm together to find an idea that excites you.
Because Script Club focuses on production-ready scripts, we’ll be aiming for stories that are practical to make — meaning minimal cast, limited locations, and simple set design to keep production costs down.
Sometimes it’s actually easier to develop a fresh idea that fits these criteria, rather than trying to reshape a fully formed but complex story. But whatever stage you’re at, we’ll guide you through the process.
You’re absolutely welcome to bring a work-in-progress and use Script Club to finish and polish it.
Along the way, you might even discover a new idea you’re more excited about, or realise that your current script needs refining to be more production-friendly — for example, if it’s a bit too ambitious or expensive to produce as written.
Sharing is encouraged but not mandatory. Peer feedback is one of the most valuable parts of the process — hearing others' perspectives helps you grow as a writer. But if you’re shy at first, that’s okay — you can ease into it at your own pace.
Script Club is just $25 per session, totalling $250 for the whole 10-session program. We want to make professional script development accessible without breaking the bank.
By the end of Script Club, you’ll leave with a completed, production-ready script — and importantly, you’ll know how much it would realistically cost to make.
If you’re planning to produce it yourself, you’ll be ready to move straight into production with a script designed to fit within achievable budgets — not something so big it never gets made.
If you’re hoping to find producers, investors, or use your script as a launchpad for more writing work, you’ll be able to show that you understand how to write for the real world — not just a pie-in-the-sky idea that’s impossible to fund.
One of the biggest mistakes writers make is creating scripts that are too expensive to produce, which can put people off before you’ve even had a chance to pitch. Script Club will help you avoid that trap, so you’re set up for success from the start.
We don’t provide access to script formatting software, but we strongly encourage writers to invest in themselves and consider purchasing Final Draft, the industry-standard tool for professional screenwriting.
That said, you absolutely don’t need Final Draft to join Script Club. There are free alternatives available.
Bottom line: if you’ve got a story to tell, we’ll help you write it — no matter what software you’re using.
